Project Description:

Northland is an innovative congregation that worships at locations throughout Central Florida. Each weekend, approximately 7,000 people worship concurrently at five sites via fiber-optic and IP broadcast solutions; additionally the church receives up to 5,000 connections throughout the world via Northland’s Live Web Stream Worship (www.northlandchurch.org).

 The new complex is a 160,000 square foot, $41 million dollar facility with a new 3,000-seat state of the art sanctuary and central office. The complex also features twenty classrooms for adults and thirty classrooms for children. The bookstore, a café, and an enlarged foyer, provide environments for fellowship between services and during the week.

WOW!Works® Role:
As the project management team for all the theatrical technical systems, $9 million of the project was managed by WOW!Works®. Services included design discipline scope of work development, liaison between engineers, architects, general contractors, and Northland, and complete management from design to implementation and opening.
Project Challenges:
  • The theatrical technical systems team and designers were not initially part of the general contractors scope
  • Collaboration between the general contractor, engineers, architects, and subcontractors were critical and a constant education as to the needs of the theatrical technical specialists and venue requirements
  • The opening date moved multiple times and opened almost a year later than planned
Why It Worked:
  • Collaboration, coordination, and communication between the Northland technical team and consultants and the general contractor and their subcontractors were critical to the success of the project
